Homework in 5/6 Vincent
I will attempt to post homework on this page each day. At the end of each day, I will write all homework on the board and provide students will ample time to copy the homework in their agendas.
The students in 5/6V will have homework each night. Most homework assignments will be scheduled so that students are given ample notice and flexibility so that they are able to plan their week around extra-curricular activities and still be able to complete their assigned tasks.
Classroom assignments are planned so that students who are paying attention and working effectively will complete the tasks during class time. Students will be responsible for completing any seat work that they do not finish during class time. It will need to be completed for the following school day.
I realize that life gets hectic as students (and parents) have lots of other commitments and responsibilities after school. Please contact me (via the student agenda) if something occurs and your child is not able to complete his or her homework.
With proper planning and effort, students should spend a maximum of 45 minutes completing homework each night.
Sample homework tasks: (not all in one night)
- Math Problem of the Week
- short writing assignment
- word study activity (words their way sorts, vocabulary activities)
- website blog entry
- multiplication/division fact practice
- cursive handwriting practice
I am available during most recesses (except when I am on duty) if students wish to remain in and work on their homework in the event that they have a busy evening planned. Please contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding homework.
